Get a brand-new boiler to keep happy this wintertime
We should all prepare for the wintertime months as the weather gets colder and the days shorter by having good central heating in our homes. By centrally heating your home, you can make it more comfortable, inviting and relaxing.
A central heating system is basically a gas boiler with pipes carrying the heat to central heating radiators placed in all the rooms; these systems can be of the pumped or vented type.
The most commonly used gas central heating systems are the pumped systems, which consists of two outstanding parts, a feed and expansion tank; the tank is the core of the system, it first heats itself and then transfers the heat to the heaters through the pipes. Due to heat, the water in the tank expands and fills it up.
The vented system on the other hand is a sealed system where there is no core heating. Water tanks are not required here because it is a closed system. It works well in colder countries like Norther Europe because the pipes are less likely to freeze up in this system, in addition to that there are less chances of leaking and there are no airlocks too.
So you might ask what is really the point of getting gas central heating?.
Gas central heating is great in a way that it warms up your office and home at a lightening fast speed and the quality of the surrounding air doesn’t even get affected. Before the gas central heating system came into existence, other heaters like electric and storage heaters were used to keep the home warm or even coal fires. These primitive heaters invariably resulted in a harsh, sticky and smelly atmosphere.
These air quality issues were eliminated by gas central heating; but such a desirable environment can be ensured only by periodic servicing of the heating system to keep it running efficiently and safely. Many home owners turn them on immediately at the arrival of cold conditions after leaving them off during the summer season, which is not the proper thing to do. Instead it is advocated that you gradually bring them into use during autumn so that if you spot any problem you can quickly contact an engineer.
You should also keep in mind that most houses gas central heating systems can let air or dirt into it, therefore they need yearly draining. For draining the system just open the valve and keep a bucket below it for water collection, ensure that water doesn’t enter the system when it is being drained.
