Get a new heating boiler to keep warm this winter

We should all prepare for the winter months as the weather gets colder and the days shorter by having good central heating in our homes. Heating your home will make it a relaxing and cosy place to be, so therefore you need a reliable and economical central heating system.

The two basic types of gas central heating systems are called pumped and vented, both of which are made up of a boiler, heating radiators and usually copper pipework.

Pumped systems are probably the more common ones and their main part is a feed expansion tank which acts as the centre core by heating up itself first to subsequently warm up the heaters via the pipes. The tank has enough storage space to allow for any water expansion that might result from the heating system.

The vented system on the other hand is a sealed system where there is no core heating. Water tanks are not required here because it is a closed system. A sealed gas central heating system eliminates the risk of water leakage, airlock formation and pipe freeze (a common problem in the harsh winters of countries like Russia).

Do I really need a central heating system to heat my house?.

The major advantage of central heating is that the home or work space can be quickly, uniformly and efficiently heated without compromising the quality of air in your environment. Conventional heaters like gas fires, electric heaters and storage heaters are also quite effective. However these heaters had a odour around them and they also affected the surrounding air, making it less pleasant as an interior environment.

Central heating eliminated all of these issues, but a gas central heating system should also be regularly maintained to keep them at there peak. Many households only use their central heating during the cold months and leave them entirely unused during the summer, this is a common error. Instead, you should start using the gas central heating system during the autumn season so that if any problem comes to the fore, you can call the plumber and get it rectified before the winter.

Periodic flushing is very important for some types of central heating systems since they constantly suck dirt and air into them. The best way to do it is to keep a bucket under the valve, and slowly open it to allow all the water to come out; before closing the valve, ensure that no more water is coming out.
