Upgrade your central heating system with a new gas boiler

An efficient central heating system is the best way to get rid of the chill of the winter nights. And for keeping your home cosy and warm, you need a good, safe and reliable gas central heating system, not one that breaks down when the first frost appears.

Gas central heating systems, which basically comprise of a set of central heating radiators, heating boiler and pipework, can be segregated into two distinct classes, pumped systems and vented systems.

The most commonly used gas central heating systems are the pumped systems, which consists of two prominent parts, a feed and expansion tank; the tank is the core of the system, it first heats itself and then transfers the heat to the heaters through the pipes. The expansion tank might fill up at times because of water expansion.

The vented central heating system, on the other hand, is a sealed system, and it doesn’t have the centre section. Since it is completely sealed, the feed-expansion tanks are not required. Chief advantages of vented systems are: there is no risk of leaking water tank; major problems like airlocks are also not associated with such systems; moreover, they are specifically useful in cold countries because there is no risk of freezing pipes.

You may ask why you need central heating and what are its rewards?.

The major advantage of central heating is that the home or work space can be quickly, uniformly and efficiently heated without compromising the quality of air in your surroundings. Conventional heaters like gas fires, electric heaters and storage heaters are also quite effective. But these produced uncomfortable humidity and a horrible smell.

With central heating systems, these problems are not encountered, but your gas central heating system will require regular maintenance. Most people turn off their central heating systems during summertimes and switch them on only during wintertimes, this should be totally avoided as the system could suddenly develop a problem as wintertime appears. Instead it is advocated that you gradually bring them into use during autumn so that if you spot any problem you can quickly contact an engineer.

Airborne dust and other contaminants can also seep into the gas central heating system, necessitating periodic drainage and cleansing. For draining the system just open the valve and keep a bucket below it for water collection, ensure that water doesn’t enter the system when it is being drained.
